So despite the error when trying to change to "/", the folder picker should still show the determined home path and allow it to be selected.

can't think of any common reason that some data may not show up when it wasn't deleted somehow
Ransomware. (Beside physically changing file contents), often will rename the file *.encrypt.
Sure but that is not "data not showing up". That is a different, but valid, concern than what was proposed

Query the SFTP end. Do the files show up with the hidden attribute set? And if not, after quitting FFS, do they at some point in the future then show with the hidden attribute set.

but I only need the graphical interface of FreeFileSync to open and that's it
Explain why you're wanting the GUI to open? As in, are you wanting it to open - in relation to RTS?
RTS itself shouldn't need the GUI (to be visible).

I actually meant to say "as a precaution" instead of "for safety." Because I need my files to be consumed after synchronization in the order of creation. And for this to work, they must therefore be synchronized in order of creation. So if I have multiple files waiting to be synced in folder A, which cannot be synced to folder B because folder B is not available, it could be problematic for me if they are not sent in order of creation.

I'm looking to set up real-time synchronization, but for safety measures in case of interruptions, I'd like the program to synchronize files in the order of their creation. Is this feature already implemented in FreeFileSync, or is it currently not possible?
Thank you for your responses. Have a great day!

And maybe you can read over this post and do with it whatever you like. For context: I'm syncing from a shared folder on a 3rd party Google Drive with a huge amount of data. I have no write rights there, and cannot create a symbolic link to it, since I'm using the built in Google Drive sync feature that shows a link of its own to the shared folder.
Being a developer myself (C++/C# etc), I understand that you might not want to fix stuff for very few people, but if enough people report a problem it gains priority.

The author has indicated a perfectly workable method to deal with your "problem". But hey, it is not exactly along your line ...

Do not add /w or /wait to the FFS On Completion command-line, when using that route.

If you click "browse" does it not give you a directory tree to select from?
No. It throws the same error. The OpenVMS server does not allow changing any directories. It only allows access to read/write in that home directory of the username used.
