You need to enter either the correct path in front of /.gvfs, relative to your left-and right base location, or enter */.gvfs, which will exclude all files named .gvfs in the dir-tree. Instead of manually editing filter rules, you can also run a Compare in the FFS GUI, select the relevant file and use the right-click context menu to automatically add a rule in the right format.
However, given the fact that via your other Exclude Filter entry */ you seem to be excluding all sub-directories (and per the 3rd bullet in the Note thereby) all files in all subdirectories), your .gvfs file must have been in the root of the left and/or right base-location and your /.gvfs entry should already have been sufficient. That is, unless, after meanwhile quite some years, there are still some nuances in In- and Exclude Filtering that have escaped me ...

I need to run my sync job as root. But when I run it as root, I get an error on one dir:
Cannot read file attributes of "/home/<username>/.gvfs". EACCES: Permission denied [lstat]
I don't need anything from this dir and i still get the error even if the dir is in my "Filter -> exclude" list.
The settings for the job: Dir: /home/<username> Filter Includes: *: Filter Excludes: */ /.gvfs
for exclude I would think just "*/" would be enough, but even with "/.gvfs" excluded I still get this error.

I have another question, is there a way to use our own smtp server to send emails ?
Not possible at this time

I have activated a mirror synchronization that allows me to synchronize a folder on ftp every time a file is added to a folder on google drive. The source folder is the drive one, and the destination folder is the one on ftp. In practice I only have to check if the folder on the drive is updated. When I synchronize manually everything works, but if I create the synchronization in real time it tells me that the ftp protocol does not allow folder monitoring. Could you explain better how you solved it considering that I'm not an expert and I just started using freefilesync? I would be very grateful. Many thanks in advance

Nah, I wish! There's even an old post by yours truly: viewtopic.php?t=5674

Double clicking the batch file name in the configuration window appears to run all the Comparisons. I expected FFS then to continue on to the Synchronizations uninterrupted.
But that didn't happen: I needed to click on the "Synchronize" button to get that second phase going. All the syncs are "mirror". This won't work for my aim to have this batch get run unattended at midnight.
What settings do I need to check? Any help would be gratefully received.
THanks,

I want the GUI to exit when the sync is completed. I don't want to select 'Exit' it each time.
Just save it as a batch job configuration and run it with a shortcut from your Desktop, Start Menu, or wherever else. The you won't even have a GUI to exit

for what?
That's going to be, as the actual sync is ongoing, "When finished:" [Exit|Sleep|Shutdown][or do nothing at all].

How can I get FFS to not change the time and date of files?
FFS doesn't change file metadata, except to correct it. When FFS transfers a file, it will have the wrong modification time, and then FFS corrects it. If FFS can't correct it, something is preventing it. Phones using MTP are a common occurrence of this, and there is nothing FFS can do because it is a limitation of the protocol. Another cause is using a filesystem format that doesn't support it either, which may be your issue

In FFS, you can have a sync configuration run a post-sync command, or you can save as a batch job which provides an option to sleep or shut down the computer afterward. Are these along the lines you are looking for?

but I don't know how to order the business version of freefilesync. also I use freefilesync on several computers is there a multi-station liscence?
Can my already established scripts be taken over by the business version?
Thanks to you
