I need to run my sync job as root. But when I run it as root, I get an error on one dir:
Cannot read file attributes of "/home/<username>/.gvfs". EACCES: Permission denied [lstat]
I don't need anything from this dir and i still get the error even if the dir is in my "Filter -> exclude" list.
The settings for the job: Dir: /home/<username> Filter Includes: *: Filter Excludes: */ /.gvfs
for exclude I would think just "*/" would be enough, but even with "/.gvfs" excluded I still get this error.

I don't think FreeFileSync will help you significantly here. It still has to synchronise via OneDrive.
We are an architecture company in healthcare... we only have huge and heavy projects.... i mistyped... it's 1.4Tb. We don't use onedrive, only sharepoint and i cannot reduce the number of files as the owner is asking for those.
How about we have an online external cloud storage and still use frefilesync... people are updating files on the fly and they need to be synchronized right away... i cannot find anything matching our needs. I do IT for the company as side part of my engineering job (though i built and manage the whole system). i have to acknowledge my limit of competences here.
I appreciate any advice.
thank you

That 1.2TB figure is the basic you get with a Microsoft 365 tenant plus a few GB per user. You can buy additional storage as required and it's not that bad. IMO 1.2TB is a reasonable amount of space for a company of up to 50 if they're creating office (e.g. Word) documents. If you're generating a lot of graphics or video, I'd look elsewhere for cloud storage. Most big graphics companies still have on-premises servers and back up to the cloud.

It's a fact - I've migrated 20+ systems from a local file system to OneDrive/SharePoint. It happens with them all. Documented here:
I'm facing an issue with sharepoint and wonder if i can replace it with a solution that would use freefilesync instead.
we reach almost 500k files, 1.2TB of data and sharepoint sync is broken.... sometimes those files are updated, sometimes not.. we send links to clients and the files are updated...or not! Very hectic.
MS has a 100k (300k?) file limit and make you pay for extra storage and say they don't guarantee anything above 100k files... without talking about the rights modified issue (i stopped years ago the both way sync)
I wonder if you thought about or tested a solution replacing sharepoint.... any insights would be much appreciated, in particular how to have users sharing files easily... (2 days, and i have to say i wasn't able to find a similar solution, even commercial... AWS, oracle, IBM, and backblaze (still trying to test that one) are way to complicated for me and our need)
Thank you

I have activated a mirror synchronization that allows me to synchronize a folder on ftp every time a file is added to a folder on google drive. The source folder is the drive one, and the destination folder is the one on ftp. In practice I only have to check if the folder on the drive is updated. When I synchronize manually everything works, but if I create the synchronization in real time it tells me that the ftp protocol does not allow folder monitoring. Could you explain better how you solved it considering that I'm not an expert and I just started using freefilesync? I would be very grateful. Many thanks in advance

In detail the synchronization is mirror-like. The source folder is the one on the drive, while the destination folder is the one on the server. As long as I activate the service manually everything works great, when I create real-time synchronization it gives me this error "ftp protocol does not support directory monitoring". How can I solve this problem?

Maybe I have an external HD or a 2nd NAS that I want to copy from. So why not use it as the main CPU device for FFS?
It would be grateful if I could get an answer more along the lines of my question. I know there are alternatives to using FFS, but I'm interested in using FFS directly on QNAP and need help on the best way to do this.
Thanks melgoth

Double clicking the batch file name in the configuration window appears to run all the Comparisons. I expected FFS then to continue on to the Synchronizations uninterrupted.
But that didn't happen: I needed to click on the "Synchronize" button to get that second phase going. All the syncs are "mirror". This won't work for my aim to have this batch get run unattended at midnight.
What settings do I need to check? Any help would be gratefully received.
THanks,

I want the GUI to exit when the sync is completed. I don't want to select 'Exit' it each time.
Just save it as a batch job configuration and run it with a shortcut from your Desktop, Start Menu, or wherever else. The you won't even have a GUI to exit
