In detail the synchronization is mirror-like. The source folder is the one on the drive, while the destination folder is the one on the server. As long as I activate the service manually everything works great, when I create real-time synchronization it gives me this error "ftp protocol does not support directory monitoring". How can I solve this problem?

I swear I remember this being address and fixed though,
Nah, I wish! There's even an old post by yours truly: viewtopic.php?t=5674

Maybe I have an external HD or a 2nd NAS that I want to copy from. So why not use it as the main CPU device for FFS?
It would be grateful if I could get an answer more along the lines of my question. I know there are alternatives to using FFS, but I'm interested in using FFS directly on QNAP and need help on the best way to do this.
Thanks melgoth

Double clicking the batch file name in the configuration window appears to run all the Comparisons. I expected FFS then to continue on to the Synchronizations uninterrupted.
But that didn't happen: I needed to click on the "Synchronize" button to get that second phase going. All the syncs are "mirror". This won't work for my aim to have this batch get run unattended at midnight.
What settings do I need to check? Any help would be gratefully received.
THanks,

I want the GUI to exit when the sync is completed. I don't want to select 'Exit' it each time.
Just save it as a batch job configuration and run it with a shortcut from your Desktop, Start Menu, or wherever else. The you won't even have a GUI to exit

for what?
That's going to be, as the actual sync is ongoing, "When finished:" [Exit|Sleep|Shutdown][or do nothing at all].

How can I get FFS to not change the time and date of files?
FFS doesn't change file metadata, except to correct it. When FFS transfers a file, it will have the wrong modification time, and then FFS corrects it. If FFS can't correct it, something is preventing it. Phones using MTP are a common occurrence of this, and there is nothing FFS can do because it is a limitation of the protocol. Another cause is using a filesystem format that doesn't support it either, which may be your issue

In FFS, you can have a sync configuration run a post-sync command, or you can save as a batch job which provides an option to sleep or shut down the computer afterward. Are these along the lines you are looking for?

Can my already established scripts be taken over by the business version?
Thanks to you

Any Tutorial how to do this? Any hints, tips from a Linux guy? Maybe somebody has worked on a container image?
Thanks melgoth

Replace the default Include Filter of * (= everything) by the (path+) filename (relative to your left- and right base-location) of the file you want to sync. You can edit the Filter settings manually, via the funnel-icon (F7) mid above you left-right base location pair in the FFS GUI, or you can first run a Compare, and then right-click the file you want to sync and via the context menu select to Include that file. For re-use, don't forget to save your sync configuration under any suitable name.
