Re: "Both sides have changed" problems with backups
> Why does FreeFileSync show that both files have changed? Because the file-ID of both the left- and right-side file has changed compared to what it was at the end of the previous sync, as stored in the left-, respectively right-side database file. It's not the file ID that FFS is checking in this ...

Re: Mirroring bug (?) related to FileTimeTolerance
Your problem may be self-inflicted. > I have set FileTimeTolerance to 0 ... I tend to agree with Plerry here. The reason you're seeing a 1 second file time difference is (most likely) because the underlying file system is lacking precision. https://freefilesync.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1183#p5178 ...

Re: "Both sides have changed" problems with backups
My question is 2 fold. 1) why does ffs do this when nothing has actually changed? The file on the target side obviously *has* changed. Whether this is a problem, or not, only you know. If you don't care that changed files on the target side will be overritten, you could tell the program that by sli...

Re: Directory/folder availability check
Just some clarifications: There is no such thing as "not all files/folders are seen" without also an error indication, in which case FFS will fail syncing these items and not delete from the target. The more likely case is that you (the user) are making a mistake and accidentally deleting ...

Re: google drive "shared with me" folder did not refreshed with new added content
I'm not able to reproduce this. A "shared with me" folder that is linked to "My drive" is updated correctly in my tests when its content changes. However it seems to take a couple of minutes until these changes are notified by Google via change notifications.

Re: Cannot read file directory "/"
Are you able to provide a test login into this server? When no path is specified yet, FreeFileSync detects the home path and uses it as the default when opening the folder picker. So despite the error when trying to change to "/", the folder picker should still show the determined home pat...

Unfortunately the error message is lacking a few details. Can you retry with the following version: https://www.mediafire.com/file/i21s45a7g5el5z2/FreeFileSync_13.5_%255BBeta%255D_Windows_Setup%25282%2529.exe

I don't know a good alternative that could be used instead of the MAC. Unfortunately you are one of only a handful of people for which the current MAC address-based checking doesn't work. To be precise it's only two that I know of, you and JanW. No device checking is also not a solution because it c...

Re: FTP Connection was reset
FTP is generally unsafe, as it sends all data in plain text That's obviously not true when the connection is encrypted by setting "Explicit SSL/TLS". When you're able to pick a folder this means you've successfully connected to the server. Perhaps "Snort" is simply blocking &quo...

Re: Does changing source volume name break "detect moved files" (MacOS)?
Changing the volume name does not impact detection of moved files, which relies on inode IDs.
Different sizes of sync.ffs_db file is not necessarily an issue. If there is any data corruption of these files, FFS would have shown an error after comparison.

Re: Why ignore leading and trailing spaces?
Oh, so you're saying that when (alpha) SORTING the list of names leading/trailing spaces are ignored, Exactly! "file.txt" and " file.txt" will be shown as a renamed file on a single row rather than two rows (1. exists left only, 2. exist right only), in the same way that "F...

You're misunderstanding the feature. FreeFileSync still treats these file names as different, but matches them as pairs after comparison.

Apparently libcurl messed up in their latest 8.6. release. When compiling with libcurl 8.5. or the current GIT master, the CURLE_OPERATION_TIMEDOUT does not occur.
