Re: Feature request

What you are asking is already there …
As per the Note below the Manual-page on excluding items, simply run a Compare, right-click the file or folder you would like to (temporary or permanently) Include or Exclude, and select your desired option.

Re: RecycleBin.641b.ffs_tmp Folder

A RecycleBin[xxx].ffs_tmp folder will always be created if files are to be recycled in an FFS sync.
However, it should also be removed when FFS terminates correctly.

Re: I really need help

In simple words: FreeFileSync (FFS) synchronizes the content of the source root location(s) (usually the left location(s)) to the destination root location(s) (usually the right location(s)), retaining its folder structure. So, if your source root location(s) contained the listed folders, those will...

Re: Can I combine many file pair families to one?

FreeFileSync (FFS), as the name suggests, is primarily a file synchronization tool, and works at file level. It can also be used for backup purposes, but still works at file level. So, if you run a sync / make a backup with FFS, the results will be a whole bunch of files (in their proper directory s...

Re: How does Content compare work in FreFileSync

FreeFileSync (FFS) is a sync-tool and not a duplicate finder for duplicate files under different names or in different locations. When using the Compare by Content option, FFS "only" compares the content of identically named files in identical positions in the file directory-tree, relative to the ro...

Re: "Detect moved files" questions/feature requests (Warning! long post :P)

I am not the developer, but I'll give it a shot. 1) sync.ffs_db files are not 'differences files', but database files, primarily used for bi-directional syncs and contain information about the directory and file status as per the last FFS sync. Comparing the directory status per the last sync with t...

Re: Multiple instances of RealTimeSync from BAT file

That is the way the Windows batch file works; it waits for the previous command to finish.
If don't want the batch file to wait for the previous command to finish, use the batch file START command.

Re: Realsync problem

RealTimeSync (RTS) will not trigger a FreeFileSync (FFS) sync as soon as a file in the monitored folder(s) has changed. Launching FFS will be "armed" upon detecting such change, but only "triggered" upon detecting that no (further) such changes have occurred for a time specified in RTS (i.e. inactiv...

Save and run your syncs as *.ffs_batch files.
See the "Attention" text in https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=command-line item 1.

Re: Why does New Sync Include these?

The default Include filter is "*", meaning: include everything (that is not explicitly excluded).
The list you are showing is the default content of the Exclude filter.
These items are in the default Exclude filter list, as it normally does not make sense to have these included in your sync.

Re: How to FFS?

1) If you move files out of the (left) base folder location(s) or one of its sub folders, that file is removed from the "scope" of the sync and is thus considered to be deleted/removed. If you use the Mirror sync variant, running the sync will then also remove that file from the destination location...

Define the proper user credentials for running the scheduled task.
The default "System" user does not work, as it has no stored credentials

Re: New feature: able to set action "Delete" for category "="

You are using an "exotic" approach of making backups and trying to maintain those. Instead of trying to get a tool to fit your exotic approach, it might be better to reconsider that approach. If you would use FreeFileSync (FFS) to make a "single" backup (meaning: a file would appear only once in the...

Re: Mirror Files from Subfolders using a list

(Never tried this, but …) Alternatively, you might specify a whole list of left-right base folder pairs when invoking FFS. See https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=command-line You would then need to specify all your subfolders to be included as individual left-right pairs using the -Dirpair di...

Re: Mirror Files from Subfolders using a list

This is a quite specific use case, which is not directly built into FreeFileSync (FFS). So, some customization by the user seems required. There might be more than one way to tackle this, but … Possibly one of the simplest approaches is using the Include filter for this purpose. The FFS-sync setting...

Re: How to recover data lost after having used the mirror option by mistake

No, there is no simple "undo" button or action. The obvious reaction would be: simply restore the files from your backup. But creating a backup is likely what you want to use FreeFileSync (FFS) for in the first place. Apparently you have used the Recycle-bin as your Delete Files option. So, at least...

Re: Register credentials of destination drive on FFS

Another way to address this is to create a dedicated Windows user account for running your (FFS) syncs to your NAS, let's say "SyncUserWin" with its own dedicated password. Similarly on your NAS you create such dedicated user, let's say "SyncUserNAS" with its own password. (Obviously it is OK if the...

Re: problem with multiple syncs in one batch job missing files

You first need to run the <drive1> -> <drive 2> sync
and after that is finished run the <drive 2> -> <drive 3> sync

However, if <drive 2> is a mirror of <drive 1>, you can run
<drive 1> -> <drive 2> and <drive 1> -> <drive 3> in a single sync.
