Hi!

I just downloaded v. 2.3 and i was trying to read the settings i have saved
from ver. 2.2.
It gives an error reading some settings that are new and not present in the
ffs_gui file. This is ok.

But the problem is that he reads some options but not other, for example the
folders that were configured before, are not read. And don't know what else is
not read too.

He should read all the options, and the new options from the new version
should be used with some default setting. Then we could save the settings
again and he would just add the new options.

The important is that the older settings should not be lost.

Can you confirm this?

Thanks
Nuno Leite

Hi Nuno,

in v2.3 I had to make some structural changes concerning folder pairs: It is
now possible to have an alternate configuration for each pair. Unfortunately
this new structure is not compatible with the old layout. However this should
be the first and last time that folder pair configuration is changed.

So, what do you suggest?

Can i still read the settings from the older files, and then recreate the
folder pairs, only? Everything else is recovered?

Or is it better to recreate everything from the beginning?

I have 10 settings saved from v. 2.2 and i don't know if i can remember
everything i have configured before, but if this is only about the folder
pairs, i think i can remember, that.

Thanks

I'd have a look at the XML-files directly. They're not that complex so you
could create a new XML with the new format and copy & paste configuration
from the old XMLs into it.

I did that, and i found that the only thing that needs to be changed is the
<Folder> to <FolderPairs> and of course </Folder> to
</FolderPairs>, and then this block as to be outside the
<Comparison> and inside the <MainConfig>

Then all the other configurations are correct and everything is readable.

After this the only thing i have done was to open the file, and then save it
and the new options are added to the file and everything is corrected.

Thanks
