Before I get started I want you to know I did look in the Manual for this but I could not find it. So please could some body tell me how find the Advanced menu?
One other question. Is there a way to search the Manual for an item?

I am not (instantly) aware of FFS having an Advanced menu.
What feature are you trying to find in the menu?
If you want to search the entire FFS Manual, open the FFS Manual page in your web browser and click the "All on one page" button at the right top.
Then type ctrl-F. In most (all?) browsers this will open a search feature in the active web page.

I was reading this article and it talked about an Advanced menu.

That article seems to be from 2012.
So, likely the article describes (at best) FreeFileSync (FFS) release 5.7.
Possibly the Advanced menu has been replaced by other solutions going from release 5 to 6.
I have been using FFS from release 6.7 or 6.8 onwards, and don't remember
ever having seen an Advanced menu.
If you are looking for the way to save batch-files, you can now do so from the Configuration sub-window, normally found in the top left corner.
