It would be very nice if destination could be a tape device.
Of course, the range of options should be very restricted, just update without a pre-check of the destination.
Sugestion: possibility to make a simple copy to tape

I guess FFS already does that, provided the tape device uses one of the protocols FFS supports.

I'll to try with the device tape name.
But that would not be enough: in case of a tape is detected as destination, FS should write a header with the name of the files, and when you insert the tape and click on the name of the backup, read the header and display on the right panel the name of the files with a way to select which ones to restore.

As the name suggests, FFS is primarily a file synchronization tool.
It will compare the file names/sizes/dates of one or more folder pairs , e.g. a local folder and an external folder (inc. sub-trees), determine any differences and, based on the selected sync settings, propose sync actions.
Although FFS can certainly be used for backup and restoration tasks, it will do so along the route as described just above.
