Hi @zenju,

Are there any plans to adopt the license behavior of the Linux edition of FreeFileSync to match the behavior of the Windows portable edition?

I am aware that the Linux version is already portable and does not need installation, but from a license point of view it behaves different:

- My home network consists of several Windows and some Linux machines. The FreeFileSync Donation Edition binaries for Windows and Linux are hosted on the main Windows machine and started on the clients via an SMB share.
- When doing this on any Windows client, the share is recognized as portable device and no additional license is used.
- When doing this on any Linux client, an additional license is drawn for each separate machine. As soon as the limit is reached, an information or warning message with a link to the device overview on the homepage pops up. Although the share is writable, the Linux edition does not put Install.dat there, but in ~/.config/FreeFileSync.

Kind regards,
