Excluding file starting with "~"

Hi,
I work a lot with Office applications, so I have a lot of temporary files
created by Microsoft Office, starting with the symbol tilde "~".
I'd like to exclude them, but can't succeed. I tried this expression:
~*.*
but it fails.
Any advise please?

Filtering is relative to base sync dirs: *~*.*

The above filter phrase also matches if the tilde is somewhere in the middle of the file name. Instead I'd suggest: *\~*
