Ah, I misunderstood your suggestion. Instead of backing up C:\ with include paths, I was using two separate line items. The result should be identical, correct?

I wholeheartedly agree with OP on both counts. Backing up only parent directories instead of full path feels counterintuitive. If the system works this way, that should be pointed out specifically in the documentation. Windows file history is no alternative because it can't restore versions of files ...
