Turns out that there was a missing entry in the mount line of fstab.

I had forgotten to add to the mount entry.

This has solved the issue in case anyone else has the same trouble.

I have just installed FFS on a new Linux machine. When running a sync job to a remote machine (which is mounted locally) I receive the following error for any new files created or modified since the last sync: 00:02:55 Warning Cannot write modification time of "/mnt/w9020_data/test-d066.ffs_tmp...

Smart data is fine. So I guess it's normal. Maybe I need to consider an SSD myself.

When Syncing to a USB hard drive, I notice that the reported copy speed goes up and down. For instance it runs at ~110 MB/s for a while, then stops to 0 B/s for a while, etc.

Is this normal, and if not, what can I check to rectify the problem? (This is on Linux to a USB 3 HDD).
