Re: Confirmation of one drive to multiple drives
It sounds like that, after an initial transfer of your data to your new disk, you want to backup part of the data on your new disk to a first 1st disk, another part of the data on your new disk to a 2nd old disk, and yet another part of the data on your new disk to a 3rd old disk. Although it is pos...
Re: error
> In fact, it did not accept saving them on the external backup hard drive. As far as FFS is concerned, you are completely free to save sync configurations to, and run those from any (accessible) location you choose. But for saving, you obviously need write permission for such location. Most likely,...

Or use Versioning.
This moves files deleted or overwritten by your sync to a user-defined location instead of to the Recycle bin (or instead of Permanently loosing those previous versions).

Re: What does 'The recycle bin is not available'
Depending on your sync settings, a sync involves copying files (that exist on one side only), overwriting/updating existing files (of which a newer version is present at the opposite side) and/or deleting files (that have been deleted from the opposite side). And, depending on your Delete and Overwr...

Re: Two Way Sync - Multiple *.ffs_db files
FreeFileSync (FFS) creates a single *.ffs_db file in the left and right base location of your sync or, in case you use multiple left-right base location pairs, in each of your left and right base locations of your sync. If you sync to/from one or more cloud storage, e.g. Google Drive, it may be that...

If the folder-structure within the left and right base location you select is identical, you should be able to use FreeFileSync to Compare, and if necessary Sync between those two locations (incl. subfolders). If some files are missing on either drive but present on the other drive, the most appropr...

The syntax looks OK, including the share/path part.
However, I don't know if a WD NAS is case-sensitive; I know Linux is.
So, perhaps your problem is in /workflow/ versus /WORKFLOW/

Re: change of directory timestamps
Are you sure nothing is written in the top-level directories?
By default FFS writes a lock-file right at the start of a Comparison, and removes it after the sync is finished or FFS is closed in a regular fashion.
See the description of the LockDirectoriesDuringSync flag.

For the source-side (source => portable-drive), this sounds a lot like what I suggested as a Fast option or variant in this reply.
Let's see if Zenju is open to it.
For the destination-side (portable-drive => destination), it could be a plain Update sync.

Re: sync file chnages to google drive as new version (instead of delete & upload new)
You can use the FreeFileSync (FFS) option of Versioning.
For files that are deleted or overwritten by FFS, this allows you to keep as many previous versions as you select for as long as you select, in a user specified location.

RecycleBin~5b04.ffs_tmp (or anything like that) is not the place to (try to) recover files. Depending on how you have set "Delete and Overwrite" in your Sync settings (F8), you should be able to find files that were deleted or overwritten by FFS in your systems Recycle Bin (=default settin...

Then use the Custom sync variant.
In that variant you can customize which actions are taken for the different Compare result categories.

For clarity, FreeFileSync (FFS) sync configurations files have either a .ffs_gui or a .ffs_batch extension, never a plain .batch extension. @paolog
Your proposal only makes sense if you could be absolutely sure no changes have occurred in between the previous comparison session, of which the results are stored in said file, and the new/resumed comparison session.
But how could you be sure?
Right! Run a new full compare.
