Perfect.
I used the `*\*` filter to exclude the subfolder names too.
Many thanks.

Sync contents of folder and not subfolders
Apologies if I'm dumb not understanding the manual or finding previous topic. I have a folder tree: \root \root\sub1a\sub1b \root\sub2a\sub2b \root\sub3a\sub3b I have include filter (working fine): `\sub1a\*` And I want to add another include filter but this time only to sync contents of sub3a but N...

Re: Disable Lock Directories During Sync when running from SYSTEM
I think you've hit the nail on the head Zenju. It looks like the SYSTEM account doesn't count as EVERYONE. I've added permissions for ANONYMOUS LOGON to the file share on the server PC. But still SYSTEM on the client PC can't read it. Some more looking up Windows permissions required! But thanks for...

Re: Disable Lock Directories During Sync when running from SYSTEM
Here's results when manually running from a Windows login that similarly has read-only access to the source share and write access to the local target: [21:45:55] Info: Starting comparison [21:45:55] Warning: Cannot set directory lock for "\\CENTRAL-PC\FamilyRO\". Cannot write file "\...

Re: Disable Lock Directories During Sync when running from SYSTEM
There was no GlobalSettings.xml under either: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\appdata\local\freefilesync C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\appdata\roaming\freefilesync So I copied the one from my profile and ensured both below were set to false: LockDirectoriesDuringSync WarnDirector...

I found that but there isn't an %appdata% folder for the SYSTEM user.

Disable Lock Directories During Sync when running from SYSTEM
When running RealtimeSync from Task Scheduler set to run as user SYSTEM on Windows 8, how do I disble Lock Directories During Sync please?
I have some read-only file shares and I'm guessing this is why RTS is not mirroring the folder.
I'm using FFS 6.9.
Many thanks.

Re: RealtimeSync user profile
I'd still like to do it. Don't want the start up/shut down delay. Anyway I have another similar folder structure.
So I'd really like to understand how I should configure RealtimeSync in this scenario please.

That should have been the UNC double-backslash preceding the computer name "Server"!

RealtimeSync user profile
I have a FreeFileSync batch job to synchronise a user profile between 2 PCs. In the batch job I have created "includes" to just synchronise Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos. I'm thinking RealtimeSync which is watching C:\Users\ABC and \\Server\ABC will also be wasting time triggering on ...

Re: Migrating to a new PC
Just to add I'm concerned about all the sync.ffs_db files. As I'm already syncing a number of folders from 3 laptops to the central PC, these files must be getting complex and somehow specific to the laptop/PC identities. (The RTS/FFS programs only run on the laptops, not the central PC.) I'm theref...

Migrating to a new PC
I have 3 laptops successfully RealTimeSync to a central PC. But the central PC is old and needs replacing. I can copy over the data from the old to new PC and I can direct the laptops to the new PC. But I am concerned about the hidden two-way synchronisation files that FFS/RTS uses. What do I need t...

Re: Why Run As Administrator?
I'm running RealTimeSync (which runs FreeFileSync) on 2 x Windows 8 and 1 x Windows 7 laptops, syncing Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos to network shares no problem. Users on the laptops are Administrators and no Run as Administrator prompts get in the way. Sorry I don't know what your problem...

Re: Versioning folder for both sides
So for the time being I thought I would suppress the recycle bin warning so my log monitoring program doesn't get triggered. I set WarnRecycleBinNotAvailable to false in GlobalSettings.xml but FFS still reports the recycle bin is not available. Arrggghhhh! I'll have to go through all my sync jobs an...

Re: Versioning folder for both sides
Thanks for your comprehensive explanation Plerry. It is exactly the "edited on the desktop in the synced-state location" that breaks the elegance of using this solution. I am synchronising user profile folders My Documents, My Music, My Pictures etc to the desktop. Not only does that serve...

Re: Versioning folder for both sides
I think I may have misunderstand the concept. I agree syncing serves to have identical file-state on either/each side/site. I am only trying to find an alternate solution for the fact the Recycle Bin is not available on one side. FFS (via RTS) is running on multiple laptops, syncing to the same desk...

Versioning folder for both sides
I can't see this discussed before so hope you can help me please... I am using latest RealTimeSync to two-way sync a laptop with a UNC path to a desktop. I get the "Warning: Recycle Bin is not available for the following paths! Files will be deleted permanently instead" for the UNC path wh...

Re: Sync multiple laptops with NAS share
That's brilliant. Thank you.
I'll also try syncing my Firefox and Thunderbird profiles with the laptops.
Mozilla must read the files byte by byte as the applications are incredibly
slow when the profile is stored on a NAS share.

Sync multiple laptops with NAS share
Please put my mind at rest what I want to do with FreeFileSync will work. I have my data on a Windows XP Home edition file server. The folder is shared. I want to sync the data to a couple of laptops so work can continue when out of the house. The next time either of the laptop returns to the house ...
