- what happens when you delete desktop.ini? (of course the icon is removed, but what happens to the file-name)

I tried to recreate your problem (make dir, set custom icon stored in desktop.ini, and finally change the name), but when checking via dos-cmd, the name is correctly changed to the new name. I tested under win 7 sp1 64-bit. What did you mean by "desktop.ini reflects this change"? Here desk...

same here, also keeping version 7.9 FFS is a great program (maybe the best sync software you can get), giving little or -in my case- none errors in its use, so it's a real pity that the only troubles/complaints come from a forced install method (install.dat, etc.), and/or a rather "unlucky"...

just delete the folder-pairs and save (save AS) the config or the script under a new name, then close FFS or go to another config WITHOUT saving (check if FFS is set to remember you about not saved configs (default setting)); this way your old folder-pairs are kept under their old config name

if you mean how many folder pairs are visible, you can edit the maximum height in 'GlobalSettings.xml'
e.g. to have always 15 (if used) rows visible, edit the following line, setting it to 15:

<FolderPairsVisible Max="15"/>

YES, same for me (i already asked this in the forum); although you can still set the option "View type" (below left on the main FFS screen) to ('re-')display the deselected items, the old behaviour works much more intuitive and secure (at least for me) - thanx

When temporary excluding a file from syncing by unchecking the checkbox, the file disappears from the list (unless you make it visible again by clicking the appropriate view type button). I believe this automatic behaviour started a few versions ago. I think keep seeing the files you select/deselect...

hi Zenju, indeed you're right: the GUI is well done and it's obvious you put a lot of work in the details too. Although everyone may have different preferences, i think the interface is clean and clear, and easier to understand than many other sync-programs.
