I think I found a solution. In the FreeFileSync folder, there is an xml settings file with:

<LockDirectoriesDuringSync Enabled="true"/>

Change "true" to "false". It will ignore the lock files.

Is there a fix for this yet? I too am having failed backup jobs because of this sync.ffs_lock waiting while directory is locked problem. FFS does NOT clean up abandoned lock files automatically and the schedule is terminally broken until I go in and manually delete the lock files. I cannot be doing ...
