Re: Scan taking >23x longer since v10.19

I might have resolved this. One of the servers had run out of space for /var/log and thus showing all kinds of disjointed symptoms, including the inability to properly list the filesystem. I've sorted the logging situation and currently running the the sync from the GUI and it's working fine. I'll r...

Re: Scan taking >23x longer since v10.19

Bump! I really need help with this. I've renewed my FFS license many many times over the past couple of years and really don't want to have to change my backup and archival system over this issue.

[resolved] Scan taking >23x longer

I'm on Windows 10 and regularly (~every 3rd hour) sync the content of my external USB-drive to two remote SFTP servers. There are roughly 1.3 million objects in the filesystem and the comparison usually completes in ~10 minutes: [17:59:02]Info: Comparison finished: 1 325 104 items found | Time elaps...

That is great news! Looking forward to the update! I'll make sure to put a few more bucks in the hat too.

Re: Parallel uploads for folder pairs? (feature request)

Bump!

My wish for 2018: parallel - simultaneous - uploads to each target. Please!

Parallel uploads for folder pairs? (feature request)

FreeFileSync performs the scan of folder pairs in parallel , when sources / targets reside on separate physical units. It it possible to implement this for the actual sync procedure as well? Say I have the following folder pairs set up, to sync my local drive to three separate targets: Local Drive -...

Re: Suggestions: improvements to networked syncs

The lack of progress for a remote-copy action is a really good point! It really makes the implementation I had in mind unreliable. I also did some more research and found out that the sftp protocol doesn't include a copy command anyway. There's a draft for a copy-file extension , but it isn't widely...

Re: Suggestions: improvements to networked syncs

I'm afraid I'm not seeing the problem. Let me try that again. At some point FFS have decided "here are all the files I need to upload, for [target] to match [source]", right? It has built a list of actions to take*. So say the same 4GB movie appears in 2 places in that list, with the inten...

Re: Suggestions: improvements to networked syncs

Right, I'm talking about local files now. The "less involved" implementation doesn't bother with finding duplicates on the server, only in the current upload que.

Re: Compare Setting

I actually have the exact same problem! I'd be very interested in hearing if you figure this out, programatix! In my case it's a set of jpeg's in a specific folder, whose timestamps never matches the server side no matter how often they're synced. I ended up adding the folder to the exclusion-list i...

Re: Suggestions: improvements to networked syncs

1. That's great news! I look forward to it :) 2. Yeah - I guess we can't get the SFTP to do binary comparisons for us. But there is a copy-command in the protocol, no? So how about a less involved implementation: - When FFS creates the list of all files to upload, it can trivially check if any file ...

32-Bit ARM build, please?

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 Mate, on an Odroid XU4 (single-chip computer). It's a 32 bit ARM CPU. I tried running the 32-bit Debian version of FFS 9.2 but it won't execute ("Exec format error"). I also tried installing from LaunchPad but I get a 404 for /xenial/main/binary-armhf/Packages. :/ ...

Suggestions: improvements to networked syncs

I have to synchronize large amounts of files across LAN and the Internet, using SFTP in both cases. I have two ideas and wonder if they're possible to implement; 1. Multiple upload streams I can't say for sure, but looking at the logs it seems files are uploaded in a serial fashion, one after anothe...

Re: (S)FTP on Linux

I just want to add my support to this issue. I will soon be using FFS on both Windows and Linux machines, and feature parity would be really helpful! Built-in SFTP for the Linux client seems like a no-brainer to me.

Meanwhile; thanks @schnappi for the workaround!

Suggestion: add transfer rates to log files?

Hi! I'm a heavy user of FFS (Donation Edition) and would love a small addition to the log files; transfer speeds. The header of each log looks like this today: ___________________________________________________________________________ |2017-07-19 - archive_to_offsite_sync: Synchronization completed...
