Re: Freefilesync v13.3 doesn't compare ID3 tags
And I was dumb - I didn't realise filters persisted between sessions. I was on [Last Session] (the default) and it remembered some irrelevant filters from an older session I'd had selected previously, weeks ago. ID3 differences now detected once the filters are cleared.

Re: Freefilesync v13.3 doesn't compare ID3 tags
I'm quite worried about my music collection now, as I used FreeFileSync to back it up, but if it isn't detecting changed ID3 tags, I'm worried what I've lost.

Freefilesync v13.3 doesn't compare ID3 tags
I have a couple of albums of MP3s that I'm comparing between my PC and my MP3 player. I have updated the ID3 tags (Artist, album, etc.) in the files on my PC using MP3Tag , but on the MP3 player the tags are incorrect and outdated.

Re: Disable auto-update option
I have noticed FreeFileSync automatically attempting to check for updates in the menubar and via an annoying popup. I wish I could disable all update checks, as they are annoying and unsightly. When I want to update, I check back here on the website periodically, but no features I use have been ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
I would recommend giving SyncFolders a go, as it is free. It supports copying empty folders, hashing the results of a transfer, versioned backups, changes detected as in Freefilesync (file time+size, filetime, filename, file content). It even has a details view similar to Freefilesync (see ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
The new tree view is still awful even now, years on. I stick to v10.24, experiment with the latest versions occasionally, though am experimenting with other backup tools such as Goodsync, Beyond Compare, SyncFolders, Bvckup. So far, SyncFolders is the best.

That works for me! Thank you very much! I'll get another donation edition again soon, or, if I need to reinstall, can use the free edition.

I think my Donation Edition installer was leaked
I think one of my friends on another forum may have leaked my Donation Edition installer that I lent her. Can hackers now see my computer details/IP, PayPal and stuff that are linked from the transaction ID link within the "About" window in the installer?
Worried. What should I do?

Re: Email Notification don't work (DE expired)
It looks like it uses FFS servers to send the emails, rather than sending via the program or a user-choosable email (though the latter would require integrating a lot of email functionality within the program, e.g. via MailCore2 https://github.com/MailCore/mailcore2)

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
I'm glad I got the donation edition for 10.24 (just in time!). I don't like the new tree view either - it's more confusing. The old view allows me to tell at a glance where a file is located relative to other files. The new tree view forces me to search around, follow lines, until I find what is ...

It seems to be detecting the folder as <%USERPROFILE%/Documents>, whereas it should be detecting it the way Windows displays it, as <%USERPROFILE%/My Documents>.

Thank you so much, Zenju! That was the problem! I can't believe I was so blind as to miss that option (which was indeed unticked) in the settings.

Re: [Question] How to sync junctions, symbolic links and hardlinks?
Thank you for the reply, Zenju!
As far as I've found with my gamesaves:
a) If I hardlink directly to a file, e.g. gameconfig.txt, that is backed up by FFS
b) If I junction to a folder, e.g. <C:\Program Files x86\game\SAVE\>, FFS simply does not back it up.
c) If I symlink to a folder, FFS again ...

Re: Syncing folders, rather than just contents
I didn't know that about filtering via clicking in the comparison window [Example 2]! Thank you! That'll save me some trouble for portable devices. (PS. The reason I prefer not to back up the whole CAT_* folders is that they contain static gamedata and dynamic savedata, and I keep "clean" copies of ...

Syncing folders, rather than just contents
Greetings, Zenju.
