Re: xxhash & hash-sync mode

don't expect this feature to be introduced in FFS any time soon (if ever). Plerry, 18 Jan 2021, 14:19
no worries. be assured that i do not expect anything mandatory.

it was merely a suggestion and i was interested in your assessment.

so nothing to be afraid of.

Re: xxhash & hash-sync mode

thanks for replying. i understood that ffs does not make use of hash mechanisms. the intention to mention xxhash was also rather meant to introduce a possibly new mode similar to the (quite slow) file-content-mode, but only for mirroring locally connected devices, e.g. hhd -> external-hdd - based on...

Re: xxhash & hash-sync mode

hi pierry, thanks a lot for the links. first off, i just realize that my wording is a bit vague. of course i was referring to local disk-disk syncronization only plus a verify process of the hashes of both sides after synchronization finished. anyway, seems like this option already exists and my sug...

xxhash & hash-sync mode

please excuse me, if this topic has been mentioned before - my search did not yield any hits. i would like to know if the following scenario is conceivable in ffs: hash source files - sync - hash destination files - compare hashes as this is quite time consuming, it would be advantageous to integrat...

Re: [feature request] ffs appimage

It seems to me that FFS already has these: Just one format for all major distributions Works out of the box, no installation of runtimes needed No root needed One app = one file = super simple for users (= just one tar.gz to extract) you are right about points 1-3, but to me it makes a big differen...

Re: [feature request] ffs appimage

not quite, as it is not truly portable out of the box and missing these features, see https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit/wiki Just one format for all major distributions Works out of the box, no installation of runtimes needed No root needed One app = one file = super simple for users Optional(...

Re: [feature request] ffs appimage

i don't use flatpak nor snaps myself, as it is a different philosophy standing behind. you need to install additional software, a daemon is running in the background, statistics are collected and fetched (not sure about flatpak). with appimages, you get a portable software version packaged as one fi...

Re: Stop Checking For Updates?

Can someone tell me how to stop FFS from checking for updates (or phoning home in any way for that matter)...completely? I have unchecked it in the "help" section but it simply ignores my setting and checks anyway, then spams me to update and changes my setting back to default of check au...

Re: freefilesync + linux + permissions

hi zenju, thank you for replying. the file permissions are identical after syncing with freefilesync (ls -l), yet grsync always does a second run with the corresponding folders & files afterwards. i am now on version 10.2, reading about changes with folder permissions got me excited, but the sce...

Re: freefilesync + linux + permissions

perhaps someone can point me to a more detailed explanation of freefilesync's ''copy file access permissions'' option for better understanding the above scenario.

freefilesync + linux + permissions

this is a question that bothers me for quite some time now. i use freefilesync 9.9 64bit on linux to mirror my external hdds (ext4). the option 'copy file access permissions' is checked. now when i double check the already synced drives with grsync (preserve owner, time, group, permissions), all new...
