It should be an option in settings what you want, I FIND IT VERY DANGEROUS for MIRROR

I would LOVE for the DELETE from both sides REMOVED from the interface OVERVIEW
INSTEAD pop up a dialog with CHECKBOX defaulting to the LEFT ONLY
I'm forever deleting both sides

PLEASE UPDATE ASAP

A FILTER in relative path for FILES ONLY and DIRECTORIES ONLY would also be nice

SPECIALLY FILES ...

I use syncback free for this feature and put ffs_batch at the end of first .cmd or .bat

I think there should be some ERROR / STOP messages in batches
like thresholds for # or files deleted exceed etc..

antrename will not create a duplicate file

it's some kind of windows garbage of rights of dcom or something, I just reinstall it
sysprep etc all have issues with images
windows is garbage since uac / administrator issues
still have not fixed administrator rights UNLESS your the ADMINISTRATOR
hence why servers USE the administrator accounts ...

I use FFS for more than just backup/sync

I need a way to RENAME the current LEFT side / RIGHT side files
right click on file list - RENAME

Rename window
Insert XXXX at Position [XX] or
Append XXXX or

Remove XXXX at Position [XX] or
Delete XXXX or

or if there is better way, I need to keep ALL ...

Go through your startup items and scheduled tasks

check your scheduled tasks
startup folder
RealSync setup
run autoruns or ccleaner and check your startup items

would really like a package for synology and qnap ...
just sync on qnap with backup station - fails - why?
either filename not supported on destination fs right issue or ??

I set FFS to NOT Save when prompted and basically remove them manually like you and switch back to it, loads it right back up / doesn't prompt to save and screw me up

my batch jobs look like this
this way I can ALWAYS recover files
I catalog the Deletes with whereisit, so I can see if the deleted folders are HUGE (then I know there was a problem on that date) ie: someone deleted a bunch of files

on the macro subject..
I would like %L/Rfolder1%, %L/Rfolder2%, %L/Rfolder3% added as macros to take the %L%eft %R%ight of the path at specific point
c:\users\jeff destination [removable]%Lfolder1% [removable]\users\jeff
c:\users\jeff destination [removable]%Lfolder2% [removable]\jeff
c:\1\2\3 ...

you can include them by ctrl click each job and it will make a new one

create another job that runs before your 14 day to compare a directory (empty) Mirroring to Right Side - scratch it, won't work, WE NEED a filter to EXCLUDE files OLD THAN XX or Size ETC instead of INCLUDE

I also having issues with 10.6, but this says a folder already exists and stops
put 10.4 on and sync went with no problem
I suggest stay on 10.4 or 10.5 if no issues, cannot trust 10.6 at this point

distributed link tracking service in windows should be DISABLED - changes shortcuts etc to point to files it finds

just put them back / restore from recyclebin

just make sure you sort by date or size and exclude only the files..

create a dummy directory on another drive use it for source (it's empty folder)
right side = folder or drive to move (put in your filters) like *.mp3 | *.flac | *.ape
select mirror
in option select replace instead of recyclebin
put the folder where you want files moved

I usually highlight and alt + down or right click ignore
then you can turn off the - at bottom filter or see sizes by toggling the buttons (filters at bottom)
I also use the delete and highlight just files (sort by size) and select files and exclude them if I want to NOT delete

to protect backups from wannacry etc

freefilesync command line
pause (I pause here in daytime for running at will) - remove pause at night or run a different .bat .cmd file

don't use that junk, had a person die, no one knew password, some items (ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN) were marked for online only (by Microsoft because this person didn't know anything about it)
it shows on local pc as greyed, and cannot access the file, as he was switched from MS to local account years ...

Look at it in this way: FreeFileSync is a file-sync program. It will gladly sync your (sub)folder structure, but essentially only as far as required to sync your files.

I think it creates the WHOLE structure first, and that to me is a problem
it shouldn't create the folder until it needs to be ...

this is where I just filter the =
sort by date/size
select all FILES ONLY
right click include
and switch back to regular sync

I can't figure out syncing with the contents (have time to figure it out)
that's my work around

hit the + and add, or select both your profiles and save as new batch

I often use FFS for file manipulation, not just backup, but here is my problem - I would like to MOVE FILES
I do a backup as normal, then I say what is = (filter) I want to select all and DELETE from Left or Right side
problem is, FOLDERS are INCLUDED in the =
so here is the problem, I run out of ...
