Thanks for your replies. I've just purchased the Donation Edition of FreeFileSync and updated to the current version 12.1. I now find that "GlobalSettings.xml" has "C:\" instead of "FFS:\" for references to config files (and log files). :-)

It's possible to exlude files by size via filter. FreeFileSync respects this setting during a binary comparison.Zenju

I really like the ability to detect moved files and deal with them efficiently.

I plan on doing something similar, but will create two configurations for each of the backups that I run independently. I prefer not doing the backups at the same time if possible, so I would have another untouched working recent copy should anything go wrong.

Is there an easy way to tell the date/time when a configuration was last synced (without having to look in log files)? When copying a file manually in Windows, the created date/time stamp is set to the current date/time. However, when FFS copies a file, the created date/time stamp is set to the original. Just wondered why there is this discrepancy in behaviour?
