Re: Beyond Compare Treeview as guide
Also, you can click 'foo' and it will auto select the folder and contents, then exclude temporarily. In my screenshot, you can't select "foo". You can only select foo/baz10.txt That's the problem and that's the reason of my post. I don't need hints for workarounds - I'm already working ar...

Re: Beyond Compare Treeview as guide
That's not true. Please read again what I described as case 2 and try it yourself. If FFS doesn't show you the folder, they are the same, and thus no possible reason to exclude it.xCSxXenon, 10 Aug 2020, 17:02

Re: Beyond Compare Treeview as guide
That's what I wrote.Temporary exclude is already implemented with space-bar or right-click menu.xCSxXenon, 10 Aug 2020, 15:23
What I wanted to point out is that FreeFileync doesn't show you the folder if it already exists on both sides so you can't exclude the whole folder with a single action.

Beyond Compare Treeview as guide
Hi all, the option to exclude a folder by hitting space and to collapse/expand folders should be possible in FreeFileSync. Besides, I think Beyond Compare has a clean layout so it might serve as a guide. In Beyond Compare, every folder is shown on a line, even if it exists on both sides. This way, I...

Re: [Feature] Automatically compare content if timestamps differ but not length.
I support the request for an automatic detection of identical files with different time stamps. They need to be listed with a specific color or icon because there might be the need for manual intervention! There will be different wishes about how to deal with these files: Decide manually, use newer ...

Re: [Feature Request] Sync timestamps for identical files
I support the request to sync (copy) timestamps as I use it often in Beyond Compare.
We should be aware that a full comparison is not cheaper than a copy.
But there are situations where a timestamp change was unjustified or by accident and I want to get back the old timestamp.

Re: Can FFS recognize and sync hardlinks as hardlinks?
did FFS indicate the files as changed? Could it be that you made different hardlinked pairs on both sides, e.g. different file date, being copied then by the sync process? I also tested existing hardlinks: 1. Create a file 2. Sync it 3. Manually Hardlink it on both sides to the same path 4. Sync aga...

Re: Can FFS recognize and sync hardlinks as hardlinks?
since I also use hardlinks routinely, keeping them is very important for me.
Is there any alternative to FreeFileSync copying hardlinks?

Can a folder pair synced from both PCs alternately?
Hi,
consider a desktop PC and a notebook to be synced.
Can I install FreeFileSync on both computers and run a sync once on the desktop PC and another time on the notebook PC, using the same database pair?
Oliver

Reason for not renaming folders?
Hi, there are postings referring to older threads with an explanation why FreeFileSync doesn't rename/move folders but re-create them and move only the files, e.g.: No, folders are not moved, but the files contained. I believe there is some old thread here on the forum explaining this in more detail...

Different timestamp but same content
Hi, there are applications changing the timestamp but not the content, and there are use cases where the same files might be stored at both sides at different times (RCS, store attachment from mail client). It might be useful to define a dedicated setting how to deal with these file pairs: * Use old...
