partitioning is the important part of that. Zenju is right, partitioning a single physical disk into multiple volumes has gone the wayside> a spinning disk drive is rather niche at this point in time

Re: Single scan thread (no multipple threads)
Yep, the only way to stop that is to format the drive(s) and re-copy all of the data to them so it's one contiguous set of blocks. Even then, there's going to be firmware and hardware choices that end up moving data around to seemingly random locations

Re: Recently had to reinstall Windows and all apps & having an issue with FreeFileSync
If you used the built-in PC Reset, it's possible there is still an issue. Did the people that told you it was corrupted also handle fixing it? If so, I'd reach out to them for help. Otherwise, I would try reinstalling Windows from a flash drive using the Media Creation Tool directly from Microsoft's ...

Re: Doesn't see RAR fies!
I think 260 is the default Windows limit, but FFS either automatically or presents the option to disable path length limits during installation. I don't think can be "fixed" by FFS because the OS simply doesn't expose these items, if I remember correctly. The way FFS gets around this issue is by ...

You don't browse for files anywhere in FFS, you browse for folders. If this is your first time using FFS, I'd recommend reading through the documentation.

That shouldn't even show files in the first place. On one hand, since FFS is just opening the OS's file explorer, I would suggest looking up how to sort by folders first for your OS specifically. On the other hand, it wouldn't even ...

Re: Mirroring bug (?) related to FileTimeTolerance
FFS is warning you because you are using a database to track changes. This adds the ability to detect this conflict, which is good, because then FFS would sync those files every single time you run it, even if they didn't change. Are these the only .run files in your dataset? Something on the ...

What is you make a change in FFS, but then something outside FFS makes another change? How does FFS handle such a scenario? On top of bloating FFS with a File Manager, not being able to guarantee the state of the files is reason enough not to implement such thing.

Re: I would like you to separate the backup file creation function for deletion and updates
Your first request can be achieved by using a custom sync, where you define the rules.
Your second request is irrelevant if you don't sync deletions anyway, but could still be a nice quality-of-life update.

This is really only a problem if you are automating FFS or not checking the comparison results. FFS isn't a corruption finder, it's a sync tool. Proper backup strategy basically eliminates the hypothetical situation you described. If you use versioning and have it retain 3 versions, there would have ...

Well, technically your filter is including all files whose path starts at the root of the base location and starts with "01". The ending asterisk is a wildcard that catches everything, even subfolders, in each file's path. I don't know the solution at this moment, but that at least explains the ...
