This definitely solved my issue. I unchecked both global settings "Copy locked
files" and "Copy filesystem permissions" and now everything is working as
expected.
Maybe the fact that both require full Administrator rights should be shown
directly in the dialog, not only in the popup shown when ...

Addendum: if the file is out of date on the H: drive, then FreeFileSync
removes it, and then I get the error about the copy.

Here is the message I get:

"C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\BlahBlah\MyFile.xls" ->
"H:\Folder_Sync\ MyFile..xls"
Windows Error Code 5: Access is denied.
