Thanks for the suggestions. Chopping up the sync would be too complicated and hard to maintain. Scheduling killing of the task would leave a mess - example leaving "lock" files which cause errors on subsequent runs. I have access to the router but there are no QOS or scheduling or bandwidt...

Yeah I'm looking for a cleaner solution, within the app. Randomly killing the app, in the middle of the sync, could leave stuff messed up, the FFS databases wouldn't be updated, files could be corrupted or not able to resume etc.

Won't that mean that (whilst idle), file or folder changes won't be actioned for hours? This would just be introducing another problem.

A simple option to rescan on completion would solve everything.

I'd have to increase my idle time to 14, 16 or more hours. That's not suitable at all.

Scheduled tasks completely negates the file monitoring capabilities. I want my files synced as soon as possible after I've changed them.

The above is very messy and is platform-specific.

Ideally the sync itself should pick up that there have been further changes and there'd be an option to re-run in this scenario.
