Is it possible to change installation directory on Ubuntu?

Is it possible to save the database "sync.ffs_db" in a custom folder? If not would it be possible to add this feature? I think it would be a positive addition since it would allow the user to have a cleaner working directory and also to avoid disk fragmentation due to the continuous update...
