Re: FFS dialog box pops up with a sound every time I open a file

Sorry. I just solved it. I resaved the Info job as a batch file (clicking the icon in the top right of FFS) & checkmarked "run minimized" & "autoclose". Now it's behaving.

FFS dialog box pops up with a sound every time I open a file

I have FFS 13.1 64-bit donation edition. I have 2 real time sync jobs: bridge & info, which, I think, have identical options set. The bridge one works perfectly, i.e. if I open a file & make no changes & close it, there's no pop up or sound. If I open a file in the Info folder, wait 10 s...

Re: Completed with Warnings?

I knew it was RTS because 1) I had it sent up that way, & 2) the sync icon was black (non RTS are green). So I just clicked on the icon in FFS, clicked on the filter icon at the top of the screen, & clicked on the synchronization tab. I saw that is was set for "Delete and Recycle bin&qu...

Re: Completed with Warnings?

The configuration you're showing on the screenshot is not the one you have set up to run via RealTimeSync. Thank you! You're absolutely right. Of all my sync jobs, this was the only one NOT set up for versioning...it was set for recycle bin. I've now changed it & consider this solved. Thanks to...

Re: Completed with Warnings?

I get a previous version on my Win10 machine, where FFS is installed. I don't have a version or FFS installed on my WinXP machine. I should also mention that the "Info to Read from the Internet" folder is sync'd automatically. I just created a "New Text Document.txt" in that fold...

Re: Completed with Warnings?

Thank you both for your replies. Plerry: I have versioning set on my Win10 machine. However, I still get warnings that the recycle bin on WinXP isn't available. I'm not sure what you mean by "If you set the Delete Files method to Versioning, FFS will not (try to) use the RecycleBin." That'...

Re: Completed with Warnings?

Thank you for your reply. However, that leaves me with the original problem that I mentioned in the first question. Re: Completed with Warnings?

When I click on "Permanent", the versioning option disappears. I'm not sure how to delete on WinXP & keep the versions in C:\Users\Phil\Desktop\Versions. See attachment.
I'm sorry. Could you tell me what I'm missing?

Re: Syncing Word files with Includetext fields

Thank you so much for your reply!!! Although Word on both WinXP & Win10 word fine & I can copy in either direction when I don't have different file paths, I like your idea of using %userprofile% on all files where this is an issue. Thank you again. I'm sure this will work, but I'll let you k...

Re: Syncing Word files with Includetext fields

Thank you for your response. The fields are supported in all versions of Word & Windows Explorer doesn't "see" them. I can explain it best by an example. Suppose you have a desk with 3 drawers & you want to have 3 documents that lists the contents of each drawer. Call them Drawer1....

Syncing Word files with Includetext fields

I have FreeFileSync version 12.5 donation edition. I sync between a Windows 10 & Windows XP computers. Some of my files have includetext fields. On Win10, the filepath is C:\Users\MyName\Target. On WinXP, the filepath is C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Target. Trying to sync Word documents that...

Re: Change the comparison & sync for an existing confiruration

Thank you for your reply. I had actually tried that, by changing the compare from "content" to "file time & size", but was confused because the synchronization took just as long. I had forgotten that the synchronization time is independent from compare time.

Change the comparison & sync for an existing confiruration

I created a synchronization job for 2 folders & used the file content option. I would like to change it so that it always compares & syncs using date & time. I know that I can delete the job & recreate it, but is there a way to modify the existing job permanently? If I change it temp...

Re: Is there a way for the completion pop-up to show up lower on the screen?

The main FFS window "remembers" its size *and* position, so I agree that the progress dialog should also remember both its size and position. wohlfelder, 18 May 2023, 07:54
Does it remember its position for you? And what OS do you have?

Re: Is there a way for the completion pop-up to show up lower on the screen?

I still have Windows 10 Pro, but it's had several updates. Currently the version is 22H2, (build 19045).
I have various software tools, but other windows can be opened, moved to another spot, closed, & will reopen where I last placed them.

Re: Is there a way for the completion pop-up to show up lower on the screen?

I know this is an old post, but I'm still having this issue on Windows 10 with every update of FreeFileSync (donation edition). Even when I drag the result window down, it moves up to the same position.

I have FreeFileSync 11.18 (donation edition) & Windows 10 version 21H2 (64-bit). I know this is an old thread, but the issue I described (the pop-up window blocking the list of files) still occurs. I've tried it maximized & with different adjusted sizes. However, no matter what I do, the pop...

Thank you for the information. Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I had computer problems & ended up doing two different restores. The restores put FreeFileSync back the way it was where the jobs ending in .ffs.gui showed the dialog, so I could see what was happening. Is there any other way ...

Additional: all my jobs now auto-close. I even created a new job, named it test, & it auto-closed. In fact, when I put the same to folders in the sync drag & drop boxes & saved it with a new name, it automatically synced only the same files.

Prevent auto-close on a non real time sync

I have version 11.15 donation edition 64-bit. On a regular sync job (not real-time sync), I clicked the box for auto-close. Suggestion: Have pop-up window not block main window

Hi: I have Windows 10 & FreeFileSync, version 11.9 [donation edition], 64-bit. When I run a sync job, the pop-up window always shows up in the middle of the main window. It would be nice if it could be made so that if I drag it down lower (so I can see the main window), it would pop-up lower aut...

Thank you for your reply. Before posting, I tried several times where I moved the screen out of the way & then closed it. Also, I noticed something about that smaller screen. If you move the mouse to any of the 4 edges, you get a double sided arrow, which usually means that you can make the scre...

Is there a way for the completion pop-up to show up lower on the screen?

First, I'd like to say how wonderful this utility is. I have Win10 & FreeFileSync version 11.9 [Donation edition] 64 Bit & use it several times a day. After I run a sync job, which may involve several files, there's a pop-up window showing that the job was completed & errors, if any. I w...

Thank you for your reply. I suppose it could be something similar...I just don't know. Wish I could stop it from happening, since it occurs every time I reboot Win10.
