I had a hard time getting the file to autorun but it's working now.
In the past I never created the configuration file and I had it working just fine.
Thank you very much for all of the help.

Re: real time sync is not actively monitoring
I added real time sync to the list of startup applications Sounds like you put a .ffs_batch configuration in there /Jim/BatchRun.ffs_batch I'm not familiar with Linux "list of startup applications", but sounds like you need, BatchRun.ffs_real (rather then BatchRun.ffs_batch). Thanks for t...

Re: real time sync is not actively monitoring
Sorry, batch files are relatively new to me. Aren't what you asked and what I described essentially the same thing?

Re: real time sync is not actively monitoring
Yes, you are correct, I added real time sync to the list of startup applications and copy and pasted the command from real time sync that it created from the batch file. This is the command I used: /home/laptop/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync /home/laptop/Documents/Jim/BatchRun.ffs_batch It does everythin...

real time sync is not actively monitoring
I have a fresh install of Linux mint cinnamon on my laptop. Prior to the fresh installation, I added real time sync to the startup applications and it would start as it was supposed to with the laptop, but it wouldn't automatically start the syncing, I just had to push the "start" button, ...

Re: Is it possible to have only one folder?
You don't need to sync your entire laptop and desktop to your external drive. You are free to limit the scope of your syncs, either by: • using multiple, more specific left-right base folder pairs • using the Include and/or Exclude Filter I am not syncing my entire laptop and desktop, I am only bac...

Re: Is it possible to have only one folder?
I read the help regarding "update" mode, but that won't do what I'm trying to accomplish. That won't allow me to have the most up to date version of my files on my local driveYou may want to switch to 'update' mode instead of two-way xCSxXenon, 18 Sep 2023, 18:34

Is it possible to have only one folder?
Here is my dilemma, any help would be appreciated. I have an external hard drive connected to my router in which my desktop and laptop both back up to. Right now it's not so bad, but once my kids start using laptops and backing up their files, I fear it's going to get confusing for everyone so I'm t...

Re: failed to mount windows share connection refused
Yes, I tried restarting the router. When I hooked hard drive up directly to laptop there was an error that came up and none of my files were accessible or even visible for that matter. I thought about it realized there is nothing on the drive that I couldn't just back up again so I reformatted and t...

Re: Cannot set directory locks for the following folders:
I installed FreeFileSync on a different laptop also running Linux Mint and it's getting the same error, "cannot set directory locks".
The link from the other post you shared no longer works, would you happen to have an updated link?
thank you

Thanks for responding, I figured it out last night. I needed to install an additional windows networking feature. I can't remember exactly what it was called but everything is working now.

Sorry that was a poor choice of wording, but yes, I have a 1 minute idle time set.
I am syncing between my computer and an external hard drive attached to my router.

Laptop not auto syncing after going into suspended state
