Re: How to update FreeFileSync?
Along a similar line: If I install a newer version and would run into issues not occuuring with the older version, can I simply revert to the older version by installing the old version "over" the newer version? Obviously this is important to know in a "production" environment. T...

Why not simply exclude that particular folder (and all its contents) from the sync

Re: Versioning folder for both sides
As you sync multiple laptops to the same desktop (assuming in the same synced-state location on that desktop PC), it is by far the smartest choice to also define your previous-version location on that desktop PC (identical for all laptop syncs). If, during a sync, a laptop contains a newer file-vers...

Re: Versioning folder for both sides
It seems you misunderstand the concept here. Syncing serves to have identical file-state on either/each side/site. In synchronized state, there is no difference. When using versioning, if a newer version of that file exists FFS saves the previously synchronized version of that file to the versioning...

Re: Keep previous versions of files
For me the side advantage of 1. (you know exactly where to find all available versions of a file via a file browser) is one of the prime reasons to use FFS. I would hate to see that dropped. If 1. is tied to I and 2. is tied to II, why not give the choice (option) which of the two combination to use...

Re: FTP-Syncronisation ? -> Plugin-FS
FTP-synchronization ... Unless other methods are employed (e.g. using a database), synchronization is normally based on file-timestamp (date/time) and file-size. Unfortunately, standard FTP does not support retaining file timestamp when writing /copying files. Some FTP servers and some FTP clients s...

Re: Keep previous versions of files
My earlier suggestion to use an AND condition of X-versions and Y-days: > Versions only get deleted if they are at least Y-days old and if there are at least X newer versions. applied to each file after sync seems to allow the benefits of both option I) and II) above. * setting X to 0 would effectiv...

Re: Keep previous versions of files
I really support the new version approach! Like Giangi I don't seen the need for a limitation in size. I like the approach of X-versions and Y-days. However, I would suggest to be able to choose between an AND and an OR of these two conditions. Programmatically this seems to be straigh forward. If n...
