Re: deleted all my Files in 10 seconds without asking!
OK I'll take back the profanity part as Bowflow did that. But ultimatly Bowflow said oh I did it again and now it's fine. Well if nothing changed how now suddenly does it work fine? User error? Very good chance someone inadvertently clicked and didn't even realize it. Just like those who complain ab...

Re: deleted all my Files in 10 seconds without asking!
If you don't have a test environment then you need to create one from your prod environment, no questions asked. Just deleting config files from the list wouldn't do what you are saying. That being said you need to try to replicate what you did that caused this. I know Zenju is the developer and he ...

Re: deleted all my Files in 10 seconds without asking!
Well if you have no intention of trying to reproduce this in a test environment then I would say that you may be better served working through this on your own. Unless you can help us help you more, there may not be much we can do for you. Just deleting a configuration in the configuration window, a...

And if you have it set to be silent that would happen. This is definitely a config issue.

Re: deleted all my Files in 10 seconds without asking!
I think it's the setup of your sync. How is it setup? two-way, update ,mirror? When you run a sync, especially in silent mode, it's not going to ask you at every file "do you want to delete." Check all of your settings.

Full control or not if a file is locked by another process you'll get access denied. It's not a FFS issue. Trying to backup system folders?

Re: How to stop automatic back up
What have you setup to automate syncs? By default FFS doesn't setup any automated syncs. And if you plug in a USB drive and it gets assigned E: by windows of course a backup would go to it also.

The icons down the center means the files exist on the left side only. So it will add them to the right. hover you mouse over the icons in the center column and it will tell you that. click the circular arrows at the top of the center column and the icons will change giving you a better view of what...

Your trying to do a move FFS is intended to "sync" as the name implies. I would just write a script using Robocopy and ForFiles from Microsoft.

Set it up just like any other task that you would run in task scheduler. Be sure to set it up as a user that has all the privileges that your sync routine needs. i.e. File and folder privileges.

Dirk, I would look at the help in FFS it is very helpful and I would create test folders to see how each of the functions work so not to destroy your live data. As it looks like you are a newbie at this, looking at the help, searching the forums and running test scenarios first would be your best be...

Bottom line end of subject, not all USB sticks are created equal. A 32gb USB 2.0 is only that speeds not guaranteed. I've been there done that.

OK. So now your running 8 simultaneous RTS's on an old PC sucking up memory? I ran this command: I:\PortableApps\FreeFileSync\RealtimeSync.exe i:\DocsSyncJob.ffs_real and RTS started right up in the tray, I din't have to click start.

Re: Automating RealTimeSync startup
Now that's a scary script. Why in Gods name are you running RealTimeSync again and again and again. create a regular FFS sync for all 8 folders and run RTS once.
