Re: Feature for knowing file existence regardless of path?

No, that is no longer syncing and requires a different method of comparing.

Re: Problem with last two releases sync stalls

That is an error that happens when the data cannot be read from the location, whether it is a storage medium going bad or corrupt files entirely. Try running "chkdsk /f G:" and "chkdsk /f J:" and see if it fixes anything, then try again. I would download and run gsmartcontrol and...

Still detected as trojan, getting worse

My last post went unnoticed and the detections have gotten worse since then. Defender detects it and so do many others when running the freefilesync.exe portable through VirusTotal.com. A few detections could be brushed off as false positives, but 22 hits is a lot. Does anybody have and insight as t...

Re: Changing name of large folder causes headache when backing up

Using mirror for creating a backup is a bad idea as well, for the reason you stated. If it gets deleted from the source accidentally, then it will be deleted from the backup. You might be interested in keeping files only on target folder unchanged to circumvent that.

Re: Feature Request: Run Command before Synchronization

You could create a .bat script that runs the command you want, then runs freefilesync.exe with a batch job as the only argument afterwords. You will have to adjust the copy command to whatever applies to your situation and change the batch job filename -------------------------- rem fill directory a...

Re: USb Drive Is Not Readable and it's lock Read Only

You may need to boot into a Linux OS that will bypass the attributes that Windows looks at. If that fails, it may just be completely dead

Re: NTFS to RAW after sync ffs

That's interesting. FFS wouldn't be able to corrupt a partition like that. I would try swapping SATA data cables and try a different SATA port on the motherboard. It may be losing connection during transfer, which would corrupt the partition. You may run an extended surface test using gsmart, this w...

Re: FFS on three systems

I have only run into similar issues when I start manually running sync configurations, thus messing with the database file. I would make sure you are using RealTimeSync as well, because syncing is a two stage process for this scenario. First stage is syncing computer 1 and the NAS, then the NAS and ...

Cloud storage also does its own syncing and other processes that can slow down file transfers. Large files will transfer faster than many small files as well

That is not currently an option. You can only overwrite or do nothing to the target file if the source is newer.

Re: NTFS to RAW after sync ffs

I have only seen that issue on drives or storage mediums that are failing. Run Gsmart on the disk to see the SMART data. There shouldn't be any reallocated or uncorrectable sectors. I'm guessing it goes corrupt once data started being written to a certain physical sector on the drive.

Re: USb Drive Is Not Readable and it's lock Read Only

Sounded like a corrupt flash drive, but if you can't even format it anymore, it may have corrupted the flash controller. I would be doubtful though. If diskpart can't run a clean command on it, then it is done for
