Re: Problematic characters in folder name (using ftp)
I am using FFS to sync between two PCs on my LAN. I am getting error messages whenever FFS encounters a filename or folder with a non-standard (accented) character in it, such as é or ç - so music files by artists such as Michael Bublé or albums such as "The Haçienda Classics" are failing...

Re: non-existent folder contents aren't synced-copied
You have to choose it in that menu I posted above. The five categories are 1) File exists only on left side 2) File is newer on left side 3) Unresolved 4) File is newer on right side 5) File exists only on right side You'll want to change the fourth option to "Update left item". This will ...

Re: non-existent folder contents aren't synced-copied
If you are running your browser from a monitored folder, it is triggering the sync. A browser works by downloading data temporarily to display, then deleting it, registering a change and triggering RTS. The donation version is for one local install only and can be used on a USB drive without issue. ...

Re: Error Code 5: Access denied [DirReaderPlus]
What are the specific paths that you are trying to sync? Sometimes setting certain protected objects will still deny access with permissions granted. It can also be another program, typically antivirus, that is interrupting the action.

Sounds like the connection is either timing out or the server is severing the connection.

It would not. It will only sync the previously detected modifications. You would have to rename and then compare/sync again.

Re: deleting mtp files > report a bug
This has been an ongoing issue with MTP. It is a horrible protocol when dealing with deleting and manipulating files on Android devices. It has gotten better as phones have gotten better hardware to deal with the processes it goes through, but still can have issues. It is really only an issue when d...

Re: Problem with last two releases sync stalls
That is an error that happens when the data cannot be read from the location, whether it is a storage medium going bad or corrupt files entirely. Try running "chkdsk /f G:" and "chkdsk /f J:" and see if it fixes anything, then try again. I would download and run gsmartcontrol and...

Still detected as trojan, getting worse
My last post went unnoticed and the detections have gotten worse since then. Defender detects it and so do many others when running the freefilesync.exe portable through VirusTotal.com. A few detections could be brushed off as false positives, but 22 hits is a lot. Does anybody have and insight as t...

Re: Changing name of large folder causes headache when backing up
Using mirror for creating a backup is a bad idea as well, for the reason you stated. If it gets deleted from the source accidentally, then it will be deleted from the backup. You might be interested in keeping files only on target folder unchanged to circumvent that.

Re: NTFS to RAW after sync ffs
That's interesting. FFS wouldn't be able to corrupt a partition like that. I would try swapping SATA data cables and try a different SATA port on the motherboard. It may be losing connection during transfer, which would corrupt the partition. You may run an extended surface test using gsmart, this w...

I have only run into similar issues when I start manually running sync configurations, thus messing with the database file. That is not currently an option. You can only overwrite or do nothing to the target file if the source is newer.
