Deleted all files

Made a big mistakte when using FreeFileSync for the first time:
I hope my wording is correct - I'm using the German version:
Wanted to mirror the files from a laptop to an external hard disc.
In the setting for mirroring I set 'delete left element' (which was wrong - I KNOW).
For 'deleting files' I klicked: 'trash', or 'recycle bin' (or whatever it is called in English - the symbol for it is the windows trash-symbol).
What happended was that all my data on the laptop were deleted and not coppied to the external hard disk.
And the 'trash' on my laptop also is empty (maybe because it was just too much data to be coppied in there?).
Waht now? Is there a possibility to get back the data except bringig the laptop to someone who does this professionally?
I would be really really thankfull for help!

You need data recovery. You can try a free program like Recuva, but that is not going to be as good as a professional. The longer the computer is on, the less likely you can recover
