Is it possible to save the database "sync.ffs_db" in a custom folder? If not would it be possible to add this feature?
I think it would be a positive addition since it would allow the user to have a cleaner working directory and also to avoid disk fragmentation due to the continuous update of the database

Each db file contains data (-pieces) related to all other sync locations it has been synced with. See here.
This implies that, in the present setup, it has to be in the synced folder itself, which is obviously important for use-cases in which different syncs are run against the same location, possibly even on/from different machines that may even have different database location settings.
This does not make it impossible to imagine another approach. But, doing so would likely create big challenges regarding backwards compatibility.
Therefore I don't consider such change likely to happen, even more because the arguments don't seem very convincing. But that's just my opinion.
