I have been using FFS successfully for several years. I recently upgraded my work laptop to a Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10, and have been having a problem transferring large files through our VPN. We also now use DirectAccess VPN, and I'm not sure if it is a problem with DA, my home internet connection, or with FFS itself. FFS works fine when I'm in my office (no VPN), but when at home, through DA-VPN, I am unable to transfer files larger than about 20MB. I consistently get this error message:
Cannot copy file... *.pdf to *.ffs_tmp...
Error Code 64: The Specified network name is no longer available. [CopyFileEx]
Small files work fine.
Thanks for any help

Did you ever find the answer to this problem? I'm having the same thing.

Not entirely. Ultimately, I upgraded my internet connection and the issue mostly went away. I believe it is caused by some instability in the connection (either the internet itself, my home network or VPN) which eventually disrupts the longer/larger transfer, causing FFS to loose track of the file it was writing. I believe it always happened when uploading files, which makes sense because I have an asymmetrical cable modem, which only had 1Gbps upload when I was getting errors.
I suspect that the faster internet (upload speed) simply allows files to transfer fast enough that the error almost never occurs before the file is done. I do think I have gotten the error once or twice since upgrading my internet on huge (100MB) files, but trying again, they completed without a problem.
Sorry I don't have a full solution, but I hope this helps.

I am getting this problem copying files over a home network from one Win10 machine to another. Nothing to do with speed of the LAN.

That is not the correct solution for the original issueI have got rid of the problem by enabling SMB 1.0 in windows features. https://thegeekpage.com/the-specified-network-name-is-no-longer-available/ John_23, 02 May 2023, 04:54
