I have used FFS for a year without any problems.

Now I get an error (shown in my subject line). How do I resolve this?

The drive has ample free space.

Thx

It seems the user under which credentials you run this FFS sync does not have write access in "C:\Program Files".

Using the Run command I was able to go the folder in question and I, as a test, added a subfolder fine. I then deleted that subfolder.

Sounds like the "Program Files" folder is included in your sync. This really doesn't make sense to do, so why are you syncing it?

Based on the fact that only D-drive folders are involved in your sync, it seems you would get the error reported in the topic title during updating the installation of FreeFileSync (FFS), and not while running a FFS sync.
And that you mistyped the location "C:\Program Files\FreeFreeSybc\H", unless you specified yourself that FFS should be installed in the FreeFreeSybc folder.

C:\Program Files\FreeFreeSybc\H
My question also.
Is that the correct name, spelling (& path)?

And as mentioned above, is this "...Sybc\H" where you have FFS installed into, or is it intended to be the Target location of a sync?

I introduced a typo in my original msg.
The correct text is: Cannot create directory "C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\Bin\H

The directory is not intended by me to be the target location of a sync.

I am backing of several folders on my D drive. My target for the sync are folders on an external drive (drive H).

Since my installation a year ago I have only accepted updates. I am hands-off otherwise to any folders related to the software. For a year the software worked fine and then I starting getting this fatal error.

I can send screen grabs but I don't think the Forum software provides a way to attach a file.

When I start a COMPARE I get a warning: The following folders do not exist yet: C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\Bin\H\Photo Images\Videos

Again, I have no data files on the C drive that I want to sync.

At the very top-right this text is displayed:
C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\Bin\Photo Images\Videos

I do not the significance of this directory.

Should reinstall the software?

Click "Editor & Preview" below the text box to attach screenshots
Although, it 100% sounds like your location(s) is set to the FFS directory in "Program Files"

I just realized my error

In one of my target folders I omitted the colon after the drive letter.

Pls pardon the overhead here. I ran a successful backup.
