Recover from recycle bin in macOS - "$RECYCLE.BIN" folder

I am using FreeFileSync in macOS. I wanted to mirror the contents of a USB drive in a folder in my Mac but, by mistake, I did the opposite (mirror the contents of the folder in the Mac into the USB drive). It is strange because I have been using this to sync files for quite a while, but at some point it seems that I mistakenly changed the direction of synchronization errors and the configuration was saved like that.

Fortunately, I had the recycle bin activated to capture the deleted files. However, I cannot see the recycle bin in the macOS system as part of the general recycle bin. What I see is a folder in the UBS drive with name "$RECYCLE.BIN" and that contains the deleted files but with the names changed (and also some .sqlite files that I guess contain metadata for the recycle bin). I clicked on some of these files and I can actually see their contents, but those files do not appear if I click on the "Trash" icon on my Mac. How can I retrieve the files from there, using the Mac?

Also, as a caution measure, is there any way to activate a warning if a considerable number of files is going to be deleted during a synchronization?

Thank you very much in advance for any suggestion.

(I know nothing of Mac.)

"$RECYCLE.BIN" sounds like Windows.
Seemingly /.Trash/ is Mac?

The USB drive is formatted, how? NTFS or exFAT? Or?
with the names changed
Expected (in Windows, except where an entire directory was deleted).
also some .sqlite files that I guess contain metadata for the recycle bin
Most likely they're just .sqlite files (& nothing to do with recycle bin).
