ubuntu 20.10 home empty - is it a problem with the permissions?
Where can I grant them?
Now also the error message:
The file “/usr/share/freefilesync/Linux.ffs_gui.1adc.tmp” cannot be written.
EACCES: No authorization [open]
But where is “open”?
ubuntu home empty

When does this happen, during the installation or when attempting to run the program?
Do you have correct privileges (rw, I suppose) to /usr/share/freefilesync/ ?

This happened when I tried to use FFS for the first time - 0 files. Curiously, when I saved the login data for this forum there and re-compared FFS, this 1 file was found, but not the 42 others.
As the only user, I assume I have the correct permissions for /usr/share/freefilesync/, if not, FFS might ask me for the password.

Today I noticed that FFS also has problems comparing a folder with the SDHC card in Windows, whereas a comparison with a USB stick works perfectly.
PS: The contents of the SDHC card and USB stick are not the same, but the problem should be obvious.

Your images do not necessarily illustrate a problem in/of FFS.
Only your first image shows the selected sync variant as Mirror (Spiegeln).
This means FFS will make changes to your right side to make it identical to the left side.
I will assume your other images are also based on the Mirror sync variant.
Your first image shows that apparently 7 items exist in the right-side location only. As these 7 items do not exist in the left side, FFS intends to delete those 7 right-side items.
Less clearly visible is that apparently your left side comprises 42 (=49-7) items, and that these 42 items also (already) exist in your right-side location, and have the same date and size as their left-side counterparts. As those 42 are identical between both sides, FFS does not intend to take any action for those 42 items. By clicking the "=" icon (below "Zeige 7 von 49 Elementen") you can unhide those 42 items.
Your second image shows that none of the same 42 left-side items from above do yet exist right-side, so FFS intends to copy all those 42 items left-to-right. Conversely, the right location of your second image apparently comprises 1091 items that do not exist on the left-side. Because you use a Mirror sync variant, FFS then intends to delete those 1091 right-side items.
Thus, no apparent abnormalities between your first and second image.
Your third image shows actions for 9 items, so apparently 38 (47-9) items are identical between left and right. 1 item (Secure Boot.pdf) exist left-side only, so FFS intends to copy it left-to-right. And 4 items exist both left and right, but have a different size and/or date, so FFS intends to update the right-side item. So, your left-side seems to comprise a total of 43 (38+1+4) items.
4 items exist right-side only, so FFS intends to delete those.
Your fourth image shows that there are no items identical between left and right. And that FFS intends to copy left-to-right items that exist left-side only, possibly (not shown) update right-side items that are different from their left-side counterpart, and delete any items that exist right-side only; all consistent with a Mirror sync.
Also between your third and fourth image no apparent abnormalities .

SORRY, I probably made a stupid mistake. Although the SDHC card was still empty at the beginning, so 42 files should have been displayed in each case - maybe it was a contact error on the drive?
