I have recently updated my Freefilesync to version 5.13 and now the syncronisation always takes about 20-25 seconds to start. This wasn't the case before, it was a lot quicker.
What I noticed was that the software states the following: "checking recycle bin availability". I already emptied my local recycle bin, but with not much success.
Any ideas?

Same problem - except that it doesn't need seconds but MINUTES until that checking (external hard drive) is finished... :(

Any news on this? Because I can't figure out what the problem is. Sometimes it is quick and sometimes it takes really long. As I sycronize project and proposal folders on my computer with the shared files on the server, this delay is really killing me and might be an actuall reason stop Freefilesync, because things need to be on the server quite quickly sometimes, when a colleague needs it.
Does anyone know any alternatives? So far I haven't found much that I like so much as Freefilesync. but with those delays I might have to give up some other features that I like to go for a solution that doesn't have the same delays.

You can check for yourself what the problem is by running ProcessMonitor. Most likely it is wasting time traversing the recycle bin, which is a side-effect of recycle bin existence checking.
