Hi guys,
So I was doing a Mirror operation, basically moving all my data from one hard disk to another, so it was TBs of data. I left it overnight and when I got up the AMD graphics drivers decided to crash and the screen was black no matter what but I could hear sounds and other indications that the PC and OS were alive. I should have waited for the backup to finish but while trying to see anything on the screen again I interrupted the Mirror operation pressing some keys blindly.
Now, after restarting the computer, I would like to not repeat the whole operation but I need to know for sure that every single byte was copied. FreeFileSync now shows all the ramaining files to mirror and I can even go to the huge log and see after which exact file it was interrupted.
My questions are:
- Is this as simple as that the only possible file affected is that one that shows in the log right before the "Stopped" line? or is FreeFileSync maybe doing more than one file in parallel or other things I need to consider?
- For that last file or maybe for the next file in the list (which I can't see in the log but would be following alphabetical order apparently), could the file be only partially written in the destination disk? like a file with all the metadata correct but with not all the bytes correctly copied?
- I guess it would also be useful to know (for this time and future cases) what would happen with that same file or files being process in the case the interruption is due to power cut. Because in this case I am almost sure the operation was interrupted correctly before I forced the computer to be turned off abruptly, but I can't be 100% sure since nothing was showing in the display.
I am using the standard edition of the software.
Thank you in advance.
What happens with the file being copied when you interrupt the operation?
