I have been using FFS and RealTimeSync and really enjoy their functionality. I would like to be able to have them monitor the files in a specific folder, and only keep the two most-current files, deleting any others. The files have the name, for example: 2-24-2015_Neat.nbak, date modified: 2-24-2015 11:31 AM
I saw something under 'expert options" about macros, but as a noob, I'm not sure how to accomplish what I want. Would certainly appreciate help from someone with more experience.
Thanks

If you only want to keep the two most recent versions of files,
the actual version and the previous version, this can already
be done in FFS by using the Update sync-method, and for file
deletion selecting Versioning with the Replace naming convention.
(Versioning method 1 in the FFS help-file)
After running such a sync you can find the most recent/actual version
of the file in the destination folder (normally the Right-folder
of the folder pair), and the version (if any) previously in the
destination-folder is moved to the folder selected for Versioning.
Any previously existing "previous version"s will then be replaced/
overwritten by the most recent previous version.
This approach does not involve/include any date-coding in the file-name
or of macro's, and has the benefit you always know where to find the
previous version (i.e. in THE Versioning folder), irrespective of when
that version was moved to the Versioning folder.

Thanks very much...I think that will do what I need. I do have one other question...one of the files I monitor for changes is the backup of my NEAT document organizer, and the problem is that whenever I begin to backup the NEAT database, FFS immediately starts to try to copy the backup file (even though it's not completed) to the destination folder, so the result is that neither file matches and I get an error. I have made sure that "Copy locked files" is not checked, but that doesn't help. One possibility I thought of would be to set the "idle time" to maybe 600 seconds, so the backup would have time to complete before FFS starts to look at it. Is there a better way or another solution?
