Disappearing Freefilesync

I am a refugee from a malfunctioning SyncToy and new to Freefilesync, which seems great. One mystery: twice when it has been busy syncing large folders between external hard disks it has suddenly disappeared from the taskbar. Windows Task Manager is still showing it in Processes, apparently lapping up 38,500K of memory, but I can't get in to see progress. If I reopen it from the Start menu I just get a new start page. Any ideas gratefully received.
