Karan- this is a "feature" of Mac OS X 10.7 and later called GateKeeper. It prevents unsigned apps from being launched on the computer. It's a security measure.
You can work around that by changing the Gatekeeper settings in System Preferences/Security & Privacy. After you unlock the padlock with your admin password, change the setting in the general tab under "Allow Applications downloaded from:" to Anywhere. This will allow FreeFileSync to run as expected.
Zenju- Gatekeeper requires an Apple signed app to be "authorized" to run within the security model. That requires certificates from Apple Developer, etc. I don;t know the gory details on how to make that happen, but Apple Developer has tons of information about it.
