I'm setting up this wonderful-looking utility (version 6.5) to keep 3 computers in sync, all 64-bit Win7 systems. I'm running FreeFileSync on systems 'A' and 'C' in two different locations, while system 'B' is a laptop that is transported between locations.

All works very well between systems 'A' and 'B'. However, when I attempt to sync systems 'B' and 'C', there are three problems:

1) All's when when the sync task is limited to files on 'B' that must be created or updated on 'C', but if the task includes any files on 'C' that must be created or updated on 'B', system 'C' immediately hangs after clicking on 'Synchronize' (no mouse, no ctrl-alt-del - have to reboot). Obviously, I'm running FFS on system 'C'.

2) I've seen this problem posted by others on this forum, but I haven't seen a solution - all the files in some folders have the same creation times, but different sizes. The size on system 'C' is always a bit larger than a file with identical contents on system 'B'. I don't know what's different about these folders, but it involves about 300 of 30,000 files.

3) System 'A' can't remember the login for system 'B', even though I check the "remember my credentials" box.

I hope I'm just overlooking something simple in my installation on machine 'C'.

1) Hard to say what's causing the delay. Maybe a Process Monitor log (https://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx) could give some insights.

2) How can files with "identical" content have different sizes? Or is this a typo and you mean "folders"? In this case, FFS is just the right tool to answer the question what is different about two folders. Just make sure to reset the file filter before starting the scan.

3) This *could* be a FFS problem, as FFS automatically triggers the network share password prompt, if it detects an unconnected share. Are you able to reproduce this? Maybe you can give some more details that can shed some light into this scenario?

#1 - no, not a delay. the whole system completely hangs. I have to use restart button because there is no response to keyboard or mouse.

Happens after I "compare", and then select "synchronize". The progress window comes up, the message says "Processing folder pair ...", the blue bar makes a tiny bit of progress, but the elapsed time never gets past 0:00.

Note - this problem is about 90% consistent. Once in a while the operation works, but most of the time it hangs.

#2 - FFS is the only software that suggests that there is a difference between the files (not folders), so I am very reluctant to let FFS overwrite one of them. The file contents visually appear to be the same (e.g. a Powerpoint presentation), they have the same dates/times, and other programs tell me that two different kinds of checksums are identical.

(PS - preview shows the above in different fonts, but I did not do that intentionally, and I don't see how to undo it)
