It used to be impossible to mirror your data to SkyDrive, but OneDrive (MS's new name for SkyDrive) now mirrors fine. So in case anyone is interested, I thought I would outline how I do it.

1. Create your OneDrive folder somewhere outside your data partition if you have one.

2. Sync your data partition to your OneDrive partition as often as you want. Set up filters to exclude items or folders you don't want to back up. This should then sync to your OneDrive folder in the cloud.

The reason for having a separate OneDrive folder on your PC is that otherwise OneDrive will try to sync every change to every file and folder to the cloud. I prefer to do it say twice per week and to do daily backups of key folders to a flash drive or briefcase. It is worth noting that depending on the extent of changes and your upload speed, OneDrive will take different times to reflect changes on the PC - thus the backup is not instant, requiring other solutions if instant or rapid backup is needed.
