Triggered by Scott's post today, I am hoping Zenju can further improve FFS's management of timezones. My current backups were taken in UK, but recently I have been working in Nepal (UTC+5:45) and now in Afghanistan (UTC +4:30). The only way I can sync without recreating the entire backup is to reset the time on my computer to UTC, or actually now UTC+1 as UK daylight saving has ended.

This is not a huge problem, as I can reset the time as soon as my sync completes. However, it would be VERY USEFUL if FFS would allow setting of time differences other than whole hours, or alternatively would accept a (user defined) time range of up to say 12 hours.

If it can be done, it will also of course be useful for all areas with odd timezones, such as Adelaide, Yangon and Caracas to name a few.

Jonrichco, your use-case is an excellent example of the problem I described in my post (and to which you referred -- thanks). Based on my experience, versions 6.7 and earlier handled multiple time differences transparently and without a problem for users in our situation. I hope similar functionality can be added back to FFS.

Support for more than one file time shift as well as minute precision has been added for the next release! Here's the current beta:

Great news Zenju - appreciated. I am just home after 18 months working in Central Asia/Afghanistan and no immediate plans to return. But when I do, improved timezone management will be very welcome.

One other thing (in passing) - I am finding FFS extremely useful to (i) sync project backups to a flash or external drive, and (ii) to back up my data drive to OneDrive in the cloud. I could post on that if anyone is interested.
