Hi fellow FFS Users,
I searched for this problem but came up empty, of course it may be labelled differently etc.
I'm running FFS 7.8 on MacOS 10.10.5, it worked perfectly on the initial sync but any comparison after that lists all folders with a " ' " (apostrophe) in the name when they should be excluded.
I have hundreds on folders and only sync around 50 so I have excluded everything except the folders I want. I used exclude rather than include so I can see new folders as they are created.
Part of Exclude Filter:
/folder number 1's/
/folder's number 2/
/folder number's 3/
It doesn't matter where the apostrophe is, the folder still gets included when it should be excluded.
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks for the help.

Did you use "right-click -> context menu -> exclude via filter" or enter the exclude filter manually? The first thing to check would be if it's really the same apostrophe. Next thing, if it looks the same, is it the same unicode character? Advanced: Is the exclude filter using decomposed UTF8 just like FFS's file traversal routine?

I'm able to reproduce the problem! The culprit is the "Smart Quotes" feature for OS X text controls which replaces ordinary quotes (') by, I presume, smarter ones (’).

Thanks Zenju.
I disabled "Smart Quotes" (Settings / Keyboard /Text) and its working perfectly now.
Cheers,

I've disabled the automatic quote substitution for FreeFileSync, so there is no need to disable it globally. Here's the new version, let me know if there are any issues:
