How do i find/search for a specific file?
Pressing "ctrl-F" does bring up a search box but what are the rules for searching?
I can not find any help in the in the F1 help Manual.
The old DOS wild card indicators (*, ?) do not seem to be recognized as such.
Does anyone have a better guess than that?

This is just a sub string matcher against any text visible on the grid.

Thanks! That really helps to understand the reasoning.
NOTE:
After spending some considerable time in the help manual (pressing F1), I have discovered that I can get what I want rather quickly by using the filter function (F7) instead of the Find (ctrl-F) function. F7 allows the wild card characters (*,?) for file and folder names.
This will be really helpful when I want to view/print a sub list of files in a particular folder.
e.g. only certain file extensions.
