Hi everyone,
I installd FFS 8.0 under Xubuntu 14.04 by extracting to /usr/share/FreeFileSync and gave sudo chmod a+x.
When I try to start FFS I get the message:
/usr/share/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `CXXABI_1.3.9' not found (required by /usr/share/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync)
/usr/share/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.21' not found (required by /usr/share/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync)
/usr/share/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by /usr/share/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync)
As suggested in the forum I did:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
But FFS still does not run.
What shall I do?

Maybe the FFS Debian release works on Xubuntu 14.04? viewtopic.php?t=2258
For the Ubuntu release, FreeFileSync currently has to use the latest version 15.10 instead of the LTS 14.04 which ships with old compilers (too old to compile FreeFileSync).

...thanks for the answer. I've tried Debian release as well before I posted the problem, but it also does not work.
Well, it looks like I've to wait for a 16.04 build....

I've found Ubuntu 16.04 is scheduled for April 21st. I'll switch FreeFileSync compilation as soon as this version is out.Well, it looks like I've to wait for a 16.04 build....wagneru
